A few things on the go....

I was out in the sewing room last night. I could see my breath but I felt the need to sew something so I stayed until I felt my fingers freeze! At the moment I am making the girls a Teepee. I am using some tip shop special canvas and some beautiful bought fabric.
Here is the link to the pattern sewmamasew.com/blog (summer sewing July 2008). I am hoping that it will keep them entertained inside over the winter. Then when summer comes it can be used outside...

While I thaw out I am knitting up a scarf, the one I wanted to do earlier. I am using Malabrigo Chunky-Sealing Wax (colour) from Zigo Zago.

The colour in this photo is not true, it is more like the one in the basket. I wanted to show you how lovely and chunky it looks with the moss stitch. The pattern is called 'GAP-tastic Cowl' and it can be found on Raverly. If you are into knitting and haven't been to Raverly...well its about time you did. Heaps of free patterns and plenty of inspiration. Check it out. Hope you are having a great week.

Tuesday....I am inspired!

Yumiko Arimoto....wow!
Her embroidery is so so beautiful. I felt the need to share her with you. I don't need to say much else....

What inspires you? I would love to know where you get your inspiration from.
Sigh...so delicious.

A few new things..

We have a few new things around our place. On the weekend we added 2 chickens to the coup. Dumpy and Bandit are not too impressed with the new comers and are being bully's. I am understanding the term "hen pecked". So a big welcome to...DA DA daaaaaaaa.... Heater Beater (named by Anika) and Yellow Tiki (named by miss Ollie). I love their choice of names.

And finally some SAND! It has only taken two years.....

I have spent a few evening in the sewing room creating NOTHING...running around in a frenzy starting one thing then another then another and finally sitting. Thinking through your ideas is good. Sometimes the pressure to create is a big stress. The thought process is just as important as the making. So think on my friends.

I have also been in a knitting frenzy of sorts. Scarfs and Cowls. Its winter birthdays and I have had to use up what is in my stash (which is probably a good idea), although I would have preferred to visit Zigo Zago for some excellent woolly needs. Check out Alex's shop some time. She has some beautiful wool and is a most inspiring knitter.
Here's to inspiration!

I wear gumboots when I sew...

I wear gumboots when I sew, you can never be too sure when the rains may come.... What do you wear?

Well our little Ollie is almost two. I have been sewing birthday bunting. Its quick and easy to do. I may even make cone head party hats...I will see how carried away I get. Maybe fabric party bags for the cousins.

I have a few projects on the go, some I rediscovered when cleaning up the sewing room. Anika drew some pictures on calico and I am (badly) embroidering them. I think they are cute and older kids could probably do this themselves.

Babushka mumma and bubba ....getting there....6 more to go.....

This is my sewing room. It is actually quite clean, although when I looked at the picture I wasn't too sure....I love everything neat and tidy and sorted, but it doesn't always turn out that way.

And of course a few pics of the cherubs being creative. I love their painting and enthusiasm. It makes me want to paint too.
Till next time! I hope you are sewing and splashing paint.....
